Understanding Hangul romanization

This tool breaks Hangul into syllables and converts them with Revised Romanization.

Syllable decomposition

Each Hangul character is made of an initial, medial, and final part. For example '한' = ㅎ+ㅏ+ㄴ → han, and '안녕' becomes annyeong by joining each romanized syllable.

Keep or convert

Use Romanize mode for search and compatibility, or Unicode mode to keep Hangul readable. Hangul URLs from Unicode mode are percent-encoded by the browser when sent.
